Remember that commercial where the guy goes around saying, "Hey, wanna know my Social Security Number? Look at this huge truck! My digits are painted up there!! You just try to steal my identity. You just try!"

"Ok!" says some reporter…who ultimately fails.

It turns out the guy behaving in an "insecure" manner is really the CEO of LifeLock, an identity theft prevention service. They've got success stories posted online at LifeLock.com. One guy lost all his personal papers, passport, wallet to thieves. The bad guys tried to sign up for credit cards in his name, and lifelock found out and stopped it.

So the basic service protects you from ID theft, plus it reduces junk mail and credit card offers, and covers you for up to $1 million. It costs $10 per month.

LifeLock is also the first and so far only company to protect the identities of children.

It's crazy we live in a world where we have to cope with the threat of someone stealing our identity. I'm glad there are services to help combat that threat.
